International Roll Racing Association to Debut April 28
From the Street.
To the Strip. To the Pros.
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — The International Roll Racing Association (IRRA), the world’s first sanctioning body for the sport of roll drag racing, will make its on-track debut April 28 at Palm Beach International Raceway, Jupiter, Fla.
The IRRA gives roll racers 18 and over the opportunity to leave the streets, and for the first time ever, to become professional racers. Roll Racing has become a world-wide phenomenon and there are over 20 local roll racing organizations or events worldwide. Instead of starting from a complete stop like traditional drag racing, the heads-up race is started with both cars rolling at an agreed speed (40 mph).
It’s less costly than traditional drag racing which puts a lot of stress on vehicle components. With roll racing, drivers take their vehicles down the track without the worry of damaging axles and transmissions like seen in traditional drag racing.
“The IRRA gives the average person the opportunity to be a professional racer,” IRRA President Christopher Harris said. “For years, many have dreamed about being a professional racer, and due to the high cost of owning a dedicated race car, those dreams didn’t come true.
“The IRRA now provides that opportunity. As a IRRA pro, the everyday person has the platform to compete with their own car, earn sponsors and grow their own brand. We want these drivers to be able to share their stories with the world.”
To participate in the International Roll Racing Association, a membership and competition license are required.
A competition license is $99 for the year. This license will provide the driver the ability to race at all IRRA events, $100,000 of excess medical coverage, and discounts from participating IRRA sponsors and IRRA apparel.
Racers will compete in four events in 2018 to earn points and be crowned the champion of their class at the end of the season.
A general membership license is $69 for the year. This license will not allow participation in races but will grant holders $100,000 of excess medical coverage, and discounts from participating IRRA sponsors and IRRA apparel.
